I'm mentioned before I work for a residential architect. Well someone messed up and the house was located on the place on the property. It needs to move to the right about 5 feet. I didn't screw this up, but I'm not going to point any fingers either (luckily no one is pointing one at me either) However, I'm the O.B. that gets to deal with fixing the problem. The foundation and first floor framing are already in place. FUCK EVERYTHING. I have to find the most cost effective way of fixing this.
lets do a gallery of Utes and Hot hatches. Maybe I'll do a top 10 if I dont go on a nuke the world

See if NASA will lend you this.
(The platform, not the shuttle.)

be a damn shame if the building is insured very well and it caught on fire

i wouldnt mind the shuttle to get as far away from here as possible. we're gunna add new sections where its needed and cut a couple pieces off. its a mess

This car makes me feel all tingly....

the foundation wouldn;t burn and it would still be in the wrong place

That sounds like a mess! Keep me posted on the progress. I assume the contractor will help figure out what's the cheapest recourse.
The whole building was 5' off in the entire CD set??

Add on 5' to the basement, then seal off the 5' on other side, put a door in middle, boom, you now have a safe built onto the side of the house, or safe room, or wine cellar.

Oh, it turns out the foundation was layer on some high explosives. Woops.

That sucks dude. My BIL goes through that shit too sometimes. He had someone lay over 500 foot of pipe on the wrong property. Thankfully, it was township owned property so they just said to remove it. People need to learn how to read a map/coordinates/drawing.

I'm not a building engineer scientist, but how about you dig a 5 foot-wide hole beside the foundation and just slide the whole thing over? When you're done, backfill the space left on the other side.

And "just run with it" is not an option?
![]() 01/23/2015 at 11:49 |

yeah but then you dont have a house on top of it...

Why not put the 5 feet of concrete on the side that it needs to move to and then get rid of 5 feet on the other side?
![]() 01/23/2015 at 11:52 |

any chance of re-surveying and having the property lines moved?

lol finally a submission

nope, the client is.... pissed
![]() 01/23/2015 at 11:54 |

nah you can;t move concrete like that. the easiest thing is to just add new walls and we're covering the other side with a deck.

Sounds like you already considered this course of action...

How did anyone even notice? If I was the client I'd angle this into a reduced cost instead of you guys fixing it and probably taking longer.

The plagues of CAD. Sorry to hear that! Good luck with the chopping and pouring of the new slab bits. Hopefully won't be too expensive.

"Can't" sounds like "quitter". Come on, how hard can it be?! ;-)

How big is the house? How's the subsurface? How deep are the foundations?
I need details.

Why 5'; I assume setback issue? Maybe a layer was turned off?
Client's pissed. Zoning wont approve. Sounds like an errors and omissions insurance phone call.
Reason I ask, I am an architect (NC registered).
